Test Drive scans a small set of files before you connect a store. Open Test Drive, enter your email address and follow the private link. Availability and upload limits are set by the console operator. If Test Drive is disabled, use Getting started instead.
Step 1: Upload a sample
Select files or a folder from your computer. Upload only files you are allowed to process. The browser sends chunks of at most 8 MiB. If an upload stops, reopen the private link and select the same original files to resume it. Keep the link private: it grants access to your upload slot and results.
Step 2: Run and review
Finish the upload and submit it for scanning. A dedicated agent reads the uploaded files from a read-only local mount. It can wait in the queue if that agent is offline. Results contain label counts, declared relative filenames, labels and risk, without content, snippets or evidence text.
There is no connector account or provider credential to configure. These are uploaded copies; source folders and cloud sharing permissions are not inspected.
Retention and deletion
Incomplete upload slots expire after 60 minutes by default. After success, failure, cancellation or incomplete-slot expiry, the lifecycle worker deletes the raw files on its next tick (normally every minute). A completed upload retains its queued slot while an agent is offline. The results page reports deletion time. You can cancel to request deletion immediately.
Results and scan data expire 24 hours after raw deletion by default. A final record keeps counters and timestamps; email, paths, token hash and result rows are cleared. A keyed email digest can remain for the rolling abuse-limit window. Operator settings may change these periods; read the page's displayed limits and retention. Email delivery failures are not automatically retried. See Security for processing and retention details.
Limits and troubleshooting
Archives are not expanded by the web upload server. Scan parsing and sampling are bounded, and not every byte or format gets full parsing. Test Drive does not run OCR. This small upload test does not establish coverage or sharing safety for a whole store. Use a connector and review Coverage and Who can see it for ongoing scans.
If a chunk fails, retry or reselect the original files. If the link expires, start a new slot. If a scan stays queued, the operator needs to check the Test Drive agent. Missing email can be a delivery problem; check spam and ask the console operator to verify email delivery.
